Amazon Alexa – An educational tool for kids worth a hundred toys.

When Amazon announced the availability of Echo Dot sometime late 2017, I was one of the first customers in India. Being a technology evangelist, I am an early adopter when it comes to path breaking technologies.

The unique combination of an Echo Dot speaker and microphone powered by Amazon Alexa, the Artificial Intelligence back-end engine ignited my curiosity. I went ahead and ordered one without too much thought.

Alexa named after Alexandria, is a voice powered Artificial Intelligence that listens to voice inputs from you and responds accordingly. You can ask it simple questions like, “Who is the Prime Minister of India?”. You can shop via Alexa by asking it to add items to your cart. She can also become you Personal Assistant by adding items to your “To-Do” list, keep reminders for you, etc.
